Job Opportunity at the Kiran Project, London

Advocacy & Resettlement Worker

2½ year fixed term part-time contract    

21 hours per week

Salary: £15,312 incl. ILW         

must be educated to “A” level or equivalent

The post holder will be responsible for providing resettlement support to women and children leaving the refuge, advice, assistance and counselling to BAMER women facing domestic violence and homelessness, advocate and raise public awareness of domestic violence and its impact on BAMER women and children

Applicants will need to have a current CRB

For all the above posts the ability to speak at least 1 Asian language is essential as is the understanding of domestic violence and its effects on BAMER women and children.

Due to the nature of the project the post is only open to women.

The post is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.

NB These posts are advertised under section 5 2 (D) of the Race Relations Act 1976 and the Sex Discrimination Act under section 7 2 (E) 1975

Job Opportunities with Women & Girls Network, London

Young Peoples Advocate (Female Applicants Only)

Salary: 35 hours, up to £30k per annum 

Following the launch of the Home Offices grant to improve services to children and young people affected by sexual violence and exploitation, Women and Girls Network (WGN) was successful in securing funding for a Young Peoples Advocate (YPA) in Ealing.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic individual who will help to shape and deliver this exciting new service. The ideal post holder will be highly experienced in providing direct and dedicated support to young people who have been victims or at risk of sexual violence and/or sexual exploitation (including gang related violence) through one to one support, group work, drop ins and advocacy.

Young Women’s Support Worker (Female Applicants Only)

Salary: 35 hours, up to £30k per annum (post funded until 31 March 2013)

We are looking to recruit a dynamic individual who be highly experienced in providing direct and dedicated support to young people who have been victims or at risk of sexual violence and/or sexual exploitation (including gang related violence) through one to one support, group work, drop ins and advocacy.

Interviews will be held on: Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October 2012

Young Women’s Specialist Counsellor (Female Applicants Only)

We are looking for a dynamic individual with at least three years’ post-qualifying experience of providing counselling to young people. You must be BACP or UKCP accredited and be competent in a range of interventions, e.g. trauma therapy, EMDR / CBT.  

Please note if you are successful you will be required to attend 2 days of compulsory Induction Training in November 2012.

Deadline for applications: 12pm Tuesday 25 September 2012

Interviews: Monday 8 October and Wednesday 10 October 2012

Job Opportunities at Roshni, Birmingham

Roshni provides temporary safe accommodation to South Asian women fleeing Domestic Violence.  Roshni has the following vacancies:

2 x Project Support Worker (37.5 hours)

Salary: £17,161 per annum

Posts are funded by Big Lottery Fund until December 2013

The Project Support Workers will be required to provide victims of domestic violence with support in primary and secondary needs.

Clerical Assistant (17.5 hours)

Salary: £15,039 pro-rata per annum

Post is funded Big Lottery Fund until December 2013

The Clerical Assistant is required to provide administrative support on a day-to-day basis to enable a smooth running office environment that supports the development of Roshni, delivery of projects and assists the needs of management, staff and service users.

Children Development Officer (20 hours)

Salary: £18,993 pro-rata per annum

Post is funded by Birmingham Children Fund until March 2013

The Children Development Officer will be required to develop design and deliver a comprehensive programme of support, play and other educational and motivational activities for children aged 0-15 years. Must be qualified to NVQ3 in Child Care or equivalent.

All Post holders must have experience of working with victims of domestic violence, be computer literate, able to work evenings, weekends and must be able to speak at least one South Asian language.
