Job Opportunity with Imkaan and Women’s Aid (north of England)

The Aya Project is a partnership project being launched by Women’s Aid and Imkaan.

Imkaan is the national Black, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BMER) charity that represents the expertise and perspectives of frontline BMER women’s services working to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls.

Women’s Aid is the national domestic violence charity which co-ordinates an England-wide network of local domestic and sexual violence services and campaigns to end violence against women and children. We have the following vacancy:

1 Capacity Building Officer Part-time (0.5) (fixed term contract) 

Salary:  £29,236 pro rata (relates to NJC Local Authority pay scale point 35) 

We are seeking to appoint an experienced professional to deliver this work in the north of England, who is very familiar with:

  • the delivery of specialist local domestic and sexual violence services from a feminist, holistic empowerment based approach;
  • procurement and commissioning practices relevant to local services;
  • tender processes and content;
  • models of partnership working, including mergers and coalitions.

The post is initially for 1 year. Secondment opportunities may be considered. The team is based at Imkaan offices in Sheffield and London. The post holder will be required to travel on a regular basis and attend meetings in Sheffield, London and Bristol.

The Capacity Building Project is a partnership project being launched by Women’s Aid and Imkaan.  We have the following vacancies:

2 Capacity Building Officers F/T (fixed term contract).

Specialist BMER Capacity Building Officer P/T (0.5) (fixed term contract).

Salary:  £29,236 per annum (or pro rata for the P/T post) (relates to NJC Local Authority pay scale point 35)

Applications for all posts are particularly welcome from black and minority ethnic women.   

A combination of the localism agenda, cuts in public spending and inconsistent or poor commissioning practices are having a significant impact on the existence and/or delivery of good quality, specialist local domestic and sexual violence services. In response to this, Women’s Aid and Imkaan are undertaking capacity building work with the aims of supporting local services to maintain the independence that has enabled them to develop survivor led, safe and empowering services.

We are seeking to appoint a team of experienced professionals to deliver this work  who are very familiar with:

  • the delivery of specialist local domestic and sexual violence services from a feminist, holistic empowerment based approach;
  • procurement and commissioning practices relevant to local services;
  • tender processes and content;
  • models of partnership working, including mergers and coalitions.

The posts are initially for 1 year. Secondment opportunities may be considered. The team will be based at Imkaan in London, although location may be negotiated as long as the need to positively and quickly drive the project forward is met. The post holder will be required to travel on a regular basis and attend meetings in London and Bristol.
