Services

Imkaan provides a collective voice for the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) violence against women and girls sector.  Our work includes:

Strategic advocacy to ensure that violence against women and girls policy and practice is reflective of BME women’s and girls’ experiences of violence. 

Development and support to the specialist BME violence against women and girls sector through the provision of information, capacity building and peer support.

Research, newsletters and publications informed by the direct needs of the sector, to improve service delivery, highlight good practice responses and BME women’s pathways to care and support.

Accredited training and peer education on all forms of gender-based violence, including specialist sessions on domestic violence, forced marriage and ‘honour-based’ violence.

Consultancy on project management, team building, strategic planning, development and needs assessments.

Presentations, public speaking and media contributions on issues related to violence against women and girls and the specialist BME violence against women and girls sector.

Imkaan is a UK-based, black feminist organisation dedicated to addressing violence against women and girls.

As a second-tier, human rights organisation, with national membership, Imkaan represents the expertise and perspectives of frontline specialist women’s services that work to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls.
